1. About CAARD Publishers
CAARD Publishers (Centre for Action and Applied Research for Development) is an academic publishing house registered and operating in Fort Portal, Western Uganda. All publications are authored by Prof. Dr. Moses Muhumuza (PhD) unless otherwise stated. CAARD Publishers is the sole owner and distributor of all titles in its catalog.
2. Purchasing Books
All purchases are processed manually via WhatsApp or email. By placing an order you agree that:
- You are purchasing a licence to read the publication for personal or academic use
- Payment must be completed before the book is delivered
- Accepted payment methods are MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, Visa/Mastercard, and bank transfer
- Digital books (soft copies) will be delivered as PDF files via WhatsApp within one (1) hour of confirmed payment
- Physical books (hard copies) will be dispatched within 2–4 business days and delivery times vary by location
3. Book Prices
All prices are listed in Uganda Shillings (USh). Prices are subject to change without prior notice. The price displayed at the time of your order is the price you will pay. CAARD Publishers reserves the right to correct pricing errors at any time.
4. Digital Books — Licence Terms
When you purchase a digital (soft copy) book from CAARD Publishers:
- You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable personal licence to read the content
- The PDF is provided DRM-free — you may read it on any of your personal devices
- You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, or share the content publicly
- You may not use the content for commercial purposes without written permission from CAARD Publishers
- Quotation for academic purposes is permitted provided the source is properly cited
5. Refund Policy
CAARD Publishers offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all purchases.
- If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 30 days of payment
- For digital books, a full refund will be issued via the same payment method used
- For physical books, the item must be returned in original condition before a refund is issued
- Shipping costs for physical book returns are borne by the buyer unless the item was damaged or incorrect

6. Intellectual Property
All content published by CAARD Publishers — including book texts, cover designs, the CAARD logo, and website content — is the intellectual property of CAARD Publishers and the respective authors. Unauthorised reproduction or distribution is prohibited and may constitute infringement under Ugandan and international copyright law.
7. Manuscript Submissions
Authors who submit manuscripts to CAARD Publishers for consideration agree that:
- The work is original and does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
- The work has not been simultaneously submitted to another publisher
- CAARD Publishers has the right to review, edit, and reject any submission
- Accepted manuscripts are governed by the separate Author Agreement
8. Limitation of Liability
CAARD Publishers provides all publications in good faith. To the maximum extent permitted by Ugandan law, CAARD Publishers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our publications or services. Our total liability in any matter shall not exceed the price paid for the relevant book.
9. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda.
